Employer Answers
Why should I use a Recruiter?
The current tightening of the labor market, the shortage of people for all kinds of job openings, interestingly enough, has put pressure on the employers to find qualified candidates and employees. Therefore, companies are being forced to use Search Firms when qualified career professionals cannot be found. The anonymous nature of searching candidate resumes on the internet also makes it more difficult to find and evaluate talent. The sheer volume of unqualified responses to internet postings is overwhelming to any employer, as job seekers often present themselves for consideration, even though they are unqualified. Sifting through volumes of resumes is a time consuming process. Evaluating resumes and matching talent to jobs is an acquired skill. Experienced Recruiters are specialists at sourcing the best talent and presenting that talent based upon specific criteria, thus saving our clients valuable time and money when filling open positions. Will my search be kept confidential?
Absolutely! The names of our employer clients, as well as the names of our candidates, are kept in the strictest confidence, and certainly not disclosed to anyone, until such time as both of you agree to the interview. At that time, and only at that time, will your name be disclosed to our candidate and, the candidate’s name disclosed to you. At dmDickason, all Recruiters are trained and expected to adhere to the strictest ethical code with respect to your confidentiality. Special consideration is always taken for those candidate’s that are currently employed. dmDickason Recruiters only disclose information on a strictly need to know basis.

What is it going to cost me to work with an Executive Recruiter?
dmDickason Executive search is a contingency placement firm, which means, “No fit – No fee!” There is no fee for our service until such time as the employer extends an offer of employment (to one of our referred candidates), the candidates accepts, and he/she physically begins working for your company. Up until that time, dmDickason Recruiters work for free! Only when a successful candidate begins his / her new employment with your Company, is our fee due. Our one-time service charge is a percentage of your new employee’s first year’s gross expected annualized W-2 income. For an exact quote on your specific assignment, please contact our Executive Recruiting Manager or click on Need an Employee?

Why should I pay a fee for an employee?
You’re not! When you pay a Recruiter’s fee, you are not paying for an employee; you are simply purchasing our experience to help you find that employee. We know the market, we manage your selection process and we know what to do when things start to go wrong. Here are 25 reasons why you should pay a Recruiter’s fee:
- We coordinate the job description;
- We interview the hiring official for clarification of real needs and expectations;
- Assess how your position compares to the market of qualified candidates and advise you of how your position, salary and requirements compares with other employers in your industry;
- We maintain / check our large / existing database for potential candidates already recruited;
- Create recruiting action plans through up-to-date industry related research materials;
- We recruit, but, we NEVER recruit from our existing clients;
- Qualify candidates by initial telephone interviews against your job requirements;
- Sift through potential finalists from “window shoppers”, “tire-kickers”, “wannabees”;
- Perform in-depth, face-to-face detailed & lengthy interviews with potential finalists;
- Check and verify credentials;
- Test, rank and evaluate chosen nominees;
- Arrange and coordinate interviewing appointments around your busy schedule;
- Prepare and counsel nominees for interviews by spelling out company needs, culture, etc;
- Prepare employer clients for interviews by providing full interview information on selected candidates
- We sell our candidates on your company by overcoming the negatives of your opportunity;
- Debrief candidates after each interview, answering unanswered questions and overcoming candidate’s concerns and/or objections;
- Debrief hiring authority after each interview assessing strengths, weaknesses, incompatibilities of interviewed candidates and make necessary changes to our recruiting and matching effort;
- Coordinate with hiring official to have the finalist(s) references formally checked before extending a formal offer of employment;
- Participate with company by providing necessary information on an acceptable compensation package required for successfully negotiating an acceptable offer;
- Reconcile any differences between successful candidates and employer to smooth the way for an acceptance of your fair offer;
- You are our Client. Your best interest, including your budget, are always our main concern. If we can save you money, we know that you will continue to use our services;
- Arrange with realtors, chambers of commerce, relocation consultants, moving companies, etc., to assure that the candidate (and family) is aware of details in new location;
- Assist successful candidate in cleanly terminating current position. Advise on professional termination process, including assistance in drafting letters of resignation. Strong discussion on “going emotional” and the “dangers of accepting a counter-offer”;
- Work with Spouse or family’s placement needs if necessary; and,
- Follow-up after placement to assure new employee integration with your company.

Other staffing services negotiate their fees, will you?
"Professional" Executive Recruiters hesitate to negotiate their fees because, today, they don’t need to! Because of the current tightening of the labor market and the shortage of skilled / qualified people for all kinds of job openings, most Recruiters have more full-fee orders than they have qualified candidates to place.
“Staffing Services” negotiate their fees because they have to. However, are you really comparing apples to apples? You mention that other “staffing services” are willing to negotiate their fees……..Are you talking about a Temporary Service, or maybe an Employment Agency? If that’s the case, these services do not provide the same level of service that you will expect from an executive search firm. Please click on “Are you an Employment Agency?”
Temporary services almost never have a published / fixed service charge schedule. Their fees for matching a file cabinet full of mid-skilled, mostly unemployed workers with easy to find general or traditional backgrounds and experience, are always negotiable. And, since employment agencies normally charge the job seeker the fee, they’d be extremely excited to have your company participate at any level.
dmDickason Executive Search, however, has been conducting career search services in El Paso since 1965. For over four decades, we have dedicated ourselves to finding the best job candidates for leading companies across the United States and Mexico. And, at dmDickason, we have a long-standing history of success – over 40 years of experience in working with, and placing the best job candidates with the best companies and employers in the area. We fully understand our marketplace as well as anyone, and our labor force better than everyone.
Our success in presenting just the right candidate for the job has not only attracted the best job applicants in the area, but has also helped us build and serve a local and national client company list of many world-recognized Fortune 500 Corporations. Many have been our clients for over 30+ years

Do you primarily refer unemployed candidates?
No, not at all. You are probably thinking about a Temp Agency or Employment Agency. On the contrary, most of our candidates are not only currently employed, they are happily employed. A majority of them are not even interested in considering a job change before we speak to them. Most of them, approximately 83% of all potential job candidates, are not even reachable by the traditional recruiting methods used most by employers (such as help-wanted ads, the internet, job boards, TWC, etc). These candidates are happily employed, they are not actively looking for a job, they are not advertising their resume on a national network boards, and most would only consider a job change for the right reason(s). Good Recruiters, on the other hand, know how to reach out and penetrate this untapped resource of America’s most qualified candidates.

Do you verify candidate references?
It is dmDickason’s role to identify and interview candidates who may fit the culture and needs of your company, then present a short list of these candidates to you. Once you have narrowed your selection down to one or two finalists, dmDickason will be happy to verify references on these candidates. However, because each employer has to assume all the responsibility and risks associated with the employment of this candidate, we highly encourage all employers to personally speak to the candidate’s professional references before ever extending a offer of employment.

Can I just work with one Recruiter? I don’t want calls from several different Recruiters in your office.
Sure you can, but it is not always in your best interest. Developing a business relationship with one Recruiter is highly encouraged; however, we don’t always recommend that your favorite Recruiter represent the candidates of another Recruiter. Because of confidentiality issues, dmDickason does not (typically) pass recruited candidates (most of which are employed) around the office. Each recruited candidate’s background is private, and, unfortunately, in order to accommodate your request, another recruiter has to become involved. Instead, we prefer that each candidate’s background be individually hi-lighted by the Recruiter that knows him / her best. This Recruiter is actually better informed to provide you with the detailed information you need in order to make a more informed hiring decision. The best part about working with two Recruiters is that you get twice the effort and results for half the cost.
However, If you only want to work with one Recruiter, our Executive Recruiting Manager will be more than happy to accommodate you. Please contact Recruiting Manager or click on Need an Employee and we will call you for more details.

Can you email me a resume on that candidate?
Sure, but why? We’d rather send you a well-screened, qualified candidate. dmDickason Recruiters have already dedicated several hours of their time screening out a countless number of resumes so you don’t have to.
The anonymous nature of searching through a candidate’s resume (these days) makes it more and more difficult to find and actually evaluate talent. Sifting through resumes is a time consuming process, and evaluating resumes and matching talent to jobs is an acquired skill. As you probably already know, “resumes are often the best piece of fiction you will ever read”. Therefore, in addition to accepting and screening through hundreds of resumes every week, our company also requires selected job seekers to visit our office to fill out a standard information sheet. During our interview with the candidate, we let them know that their resumes will be thoroughly checked out prior to an offer. Putting candidates on notice makes it less likely that a degree in Political Science will become an Engineering Degree, or that three months at their previous job will become three years.
Experienced Recruiters are specialists at sourcing the best talent and presenting that talent based upon your specific criteria. It is dmDickason’s role to identify, screen-out and interview only those candidates who may fit the culture and needs of your company, then present a short list of these candidates for you to interview.
Before you even meet one of exclusive candidates, a dmDickason Recruiter has already begun to demonstrate why we’ve been singled out for so many local and national award and honors. So trust us, you hired us to help you find qualified candidates, so, please, let us send candidates, not resumes.

I would like all contact from dmDickason to be by e-mail. Will you do this?
No. If you are not willing to take the time necessary to cooperate fully with your Recruiter, and take full advantage of their expertise, you probably won’t ultimately benefit from your Recruiter’s services. The Recruiter’s search process involves working directly with client employers in long-term partnerships to fully understand your organization’s inner culture and thinking. This requires a top search consultant (Recruiter) to have personal contact / on-going open communication with you. Executive Recruiting is a call, call, call business, and unfortunately, Recruiters prefer not to get bogged down by routine clerical duties and paperwork, sending resumes on candidates they have already screened and having to communicate through an email when the telephone is more practical. Frankly, most Recruiters work on a commission only basis, and making demands or ultimatums, being uncooperative, or requiring out-of-line expectations will turn a Recruiter off, and unfortunately, your assignment may end up on the bottom of the stack.

Can you send me candidates right away?
You bet! Some jobs need to be filled in a hurry; and dmDickason can help in three ways. First, we can usually find a qualified individual to work on a temporary basis so you won’t have to hire the first person who comes along. Second, we maintain a large, constantly up-dated automated database of all kinds of qualified people just “standing by” for the right opportunity; and third, if your job opening is highly specialized and requires a more extensive search, let dmDickason’s Temporary Division provide you with a qualified temporary until the Executive Search Division can recruit the right person for the job. Click on Need an Employee and we will get started.

Can we pay by Credit card?
You bet! We accept Check, VISA, Electronic Check, ACH Deposits / Direct deposits.

Does dmDickason Executive Search offer a guarantee on their placements?
Yes! (but if we both did our job right, you should not need it).
Temporary staffing companies and Employment Agencies offer creative guarantees in all shapes and sizes. Unfortunately, most of them are not worth the paper they are written on. Executive Recruiters, on the other hand, are highly-trained and skilled specialists who fully understand that if they do their job right, a guarantee should not be necessary. Unfortunately, however, we all know that even the best match can fall apart. Therefore, dmDickason will guarantee each placement for a period of 30 calendar days. What this means is that if our candidate does not work out for any reason, we will provide replacement candidates at no charge. Since the assignment has, essentially, been completed (at least once) to your complete satisfaction (remember, you are the ultimate decision maker as to whether a candidate is right for the job, or not), we do not offer cash refunds. We will, however, absolutely guarantee that you will be provided with qualified replacement candidates to interview.

I can’t find well-qualified employees to work for my company, how much will you charge to help me locate and hire the best person for the job?
Initially, not a cent! We typically work on a contingency basis, which means, No fit – No fee! There is absolutely no fee due dmDickason Executive Search until we have located and you have hired (and he or she has accepted and started work) one of our candidates. Until that time, we work for free! However, when you have extended an offer of employment that has been accepted by one of our candidates, a fee is due. Our fees are based on a percentage of the total anticipated starting W-2 annual compensation offered to your new employee. For more details, please contact one of our Executive Recruiters at (915) 532-1981 or click on Need an Employee.
